NiRA asks Nigerian govt to establish IP registry

The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), which manages the country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) dot ng, has called on the government to establish an Internet Protocol (IP) registry for the country. NiRA said this is necessary to address the menace of cybercrime, and to redeem Nigeria's battered image in the eyes of international communities, ThisDay reported. NiRA COO Ope Odusan said the Nigerians faced a lot of rejections when trying to shop online or buy content with their MasterCard. This is because of the country's reputation.
