Nkom gets NOK 8.6 mln extra in draft 2020 budget for 5G preparations, NOK 15 more for network resilience

Norwegian communications regulator Nkom said the government has proposed to provide it with NOK 8.6 million in the 2020 budget to support its responsibilities ahead of the arrival of 5G and to regulate the new networks once commercial operation begins. Director Elisabeth Aarsaether said legislative work is required and Nkom needs to ensure that frequencies are available to operators at the right time. There are also security assessments and training to do, she added.
