Nkom to check top 500 Norwegian websites for use of cookies

Norwegian electronic communications regulator Nkom said it will monitor Norway's 500 most popular websites this spring to check that they are complying with 2013 regulations regarding the use of internet cookies. It will examine that top 500 sites as listed by Alexa Internet. Alexa provides commercial web traffic data and was founded as an independent company in 1996 before being acquired by Amazon in 1999. Nkom will look at whether the website uses cookies, whether it tells users so, and whether the information is clear.
