The deployment of new non-residential small cells is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 36 percent between 2015 and 2025 to almost 8.5 million, a study for Small Cell Forum (SCF) by Rethink Technology Research revealed, adding that deployments by 2025 will be 22 times higher than in 2015. The research was conducted among over 50 mobile operators, asking for deployment plans, business drivers and barriers for a dense HetNet. It showed that densification has begun with LTE networks and will intensify with 5G, enabled by changes to the architecture and economics of small cells.
