North Rhine-Westphalia to allow self-drive car testing

After Federal transport minister Alexander Dobrindt announced a test track for driverless cars on the A9 motorway in Bavaria, the North Rhine-Westphalian traffic minister Michael Groschek told the newspaper Rheinische Post that the Ruhr area with its three parallel motorways A2, A40 and A42 would be an ideal test field as traffic could be diverted easily. He said the regioanl gvoernment had held discussions with Dobrindt on a financial participation from the state.
