Norway PT publishes data retention regulations

The Norwegian postal and telecoms regulator PT has published the regulations governing data retention obligations in the country. Companies that offer services to consumers are obliged to store the relevant data. When it comes to mobile telephony and internet services, only base station owners are required to store data. Others are only required to keep the subscriber data. The content of communications will not be captured. Data must be retained for six months. The regulations will come into force at the same time as the Electronic Communications Act, which will be determined by the Ministry
