Norway PT suggests priority access to mobile grid in crises

Thursday 7 March 2013 | 13:06 CET | News
Norwegian telecoms watchdog PT proposes that certain users should be given priority access to the mobile telephony network at times of heavy traffic, such as emergency situations. It said the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) says priority should be given to those with tasks critical to society. DSB foresees some 16,000 users requiring priority access to the mobile phone network but considers it unlikely that they will all establish a priority subscription. It therefore suggests priority for 10,000 mobile network users.
