Norwegian govt proposes new rules on identification to avoid mobile number hijacking

The Norwegian government is seeking comments by 03 December on a proposal to force people to use a recognised electronic identification (eID) in order to be able to set up a mobile communications contract online, or else show valid ID in a shop. Telecoms watchdog Nkom said the government also intends to tighten the rules for telecom operators' verification of consumer identity when starting or changing a contract.
