NRW SMEs leaving websites exposed with security vulnerabilities - study

The vast majority (71.8%) of the websites of small and middle-sized firms (SMEs) in North Rhine-Westphalia are not optimally configured, while 6.6 percent of the websites have striking security flaws, according to a study under the project Secure Websites and Content Management Systems (SIWECOS) of the German internet industry association Eco. Lack of configuration and vulnerabilities can be exploited by cyber attackers, the group noted.
