NTA gives Smart 12 MHz block of 1800 MHz spectrum

The Nepal Telecom Authority ( NTA ) will provide new mobile numbers and additional spectrum to Smart Telecom, which recently received a unified licence. Smart will be given 12 MHz of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band from the remaining 60 MHz in that frequency band, eKantipur reports citing NTA Director Ananda Raj Khanal. The NTA took into consideration that there are five players on the market and is dividing spectrum up evenly. Ncell was given 11 MHz and the regulator says it will provide the operator with another 1 MHz if the company wants it and United Telecom (UTL) and Nepal Satellite can
