NTT Docomo invests in Vcognition

Japanese operator NTT Docomo Ventures has invested in US-based Vcognition Technologies (Zippin), a provider of services for automated checkout stores. Zippin offers checkout-free technology for retailers. Zippin's edge processing camera technology is designed to track products and behavior of customers in the store, and the original shelf sensor detects whether the product is taken. The AI-powered sensor fusion technology combines all the sensor data to enable checkout-free functions. The investment in Zippin is expected to enable both NTT Group companies that provide payment and user
