O2 puts throttling policy in practice from 1 February

Tuesday 20 January 2015 | 09:30 CET | News
O2 has announced it will start throttling internet speeds on its DSL tariffs from 1 February, dslweb.de reports. If the customer has used up all of his data allowance of 300 GB or 500 GB depending on the tariff three months in a row, the speed will be reduced from up to 16 Mbps to 2 Mbps until the beginning of the next month. The 'fair use' policy came into force on 3 November 2014; users who have exceeded their data limit in November, December und January will have to manage on the reduced bandwidth or add an upgrade of 100 GB for EUR 4.99 or for EUR 14.99 to get unlimited data.
