Ocean Networks to build USD 300 mln Caribbean Express subsea cable

Ocean Networks (ONI) has announced plans to build an 18-fibre pair submarine cable system linking Florida to Panama called Caribbean Express (CX). The CX system will use Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) technology to connect West Palm Beach (Florida), Balboa (Panama), Cancun (Mexico) and Cartagena (Colombia) with high speed, low latency fibre-optic connectivity, said ONI, adding that it has enlisted Atlanta-based merchant bank Commenda to complete the funding of the USD 300 million project.
