Oettinger opposes re-monopolisation after BNetzA draft

Gunther Oettinger, European Commissioner for the Digital Economy, indicated his opposition to a re-monopolisation of the German broadband market in response to the BNetzA's draft decision on changes to the regulatory framework for access to Deutsche Telekom's last-mile network. Oettinger suggested an alternative to realise fast internet across Germany, saying that "to avoid losing municipalities and regions, we need to create a smart combination of funding programmes", Teltarif.de reports. According to the Commissioner, the BNetzA's draft decision will be discussed in detail in the coming
