Ofcom clears EE licence changes for emergency grid

UK regulator Ofcom has approved a request by EE for changes to its mobile licence to support its delivery of the Emergency Services Network (ESN) based on its LTE network. The UK Home Office awarded EE the contract to provide mobile services for a new ESN based on its 4G network, including an ESN Gateway device system based on an LTE air interface that could be fitted to some emergency services vehicles, for instance.
