Ofcom removes Sky Sports wholesale regulation

Ofcom has decided to remove the regulation requiring Sky to offer Sky Sports 1 and 2 on a wholesale basis. This 'wholesale must-offer' regulation was introduced in 2010 to help promote choice and innovation for consumers through greater pay-TV competition. Following a consultation to determine whether regulation remained appropriate, Ofcom has concluded that Sky is now supplying sports widely on commercial terms outside of the regulation. However, it will continue to closely monitor market developments and will intervene again if necessary. Sky now makes Sky Sports available through
