Oi revenue up 3.5% in Q1, EBITDA improves 6.6%

Brazilian operator Oi posted a 3.5 year-over-year increase in net revenue in the first quarter to BRL 7.04 billion, mainly driven by the continuing expansion of the mobile customer base, primarily post-paid, and higher broadband and pay-TV sales which helped reduce fixed line attrition. EBITDA rose 6.6 percent to BRL 2.15 billion, reflecting net revenue growth and effective cost controls, and the EBITDA margin rose from 29.7 percent in Q1 2012 to 30.5 percent in Q1 2013. Revenue-generating units (RGUs) increased 5.5 percent compared to a year earlier and 0.5 percent sequentially to 74.7
