Oi says bids for Portuguese assets 'could improve'

Friday 14 November 2014 | 12:48 CET | News
The bids received by Oi for the sale of the Portuguese assets of Portugal Telecom "are interesting, but could be improved", CEO Bayard Gontijo told analysts during a  conference call, reports Reuters. "We do not have any constraint regarding the time it will take (for the sale of assets). Our commitment is to generate maximum value for shareholders," he added. Gontijo said that the funds obtained from selling the assets will be used to support the company's role in the consolidation underway in Brazil or to reduce its debt. Bayard said it would be "excellent" if the company received new bids.
