Ollo applies to pay for Wimax spectrum in Bangladesh

Wednesday 15 May 2013 | 13:31 CET | News
The Bangladeshi government is set to award Wimax spectrum to Ollo, a joint venture between local ISPs NGGL and Bangladesh Internet Exchange Limited (BIEL) with Russia's Multinet. Some media had reported that Ollo was illegally operating in Bangladesh without paying any spectrum charges. Ollo has submitted a proposal to obtain Wimax spectrum at the same price paid by other Wimax operators, said Sunil Kanti Bose, chairman of the BTRC. Bose said the BTRC has sent Ollo's proposal to the Ministry of Telecommunication, as only the ministry has the authority to award a licence.
