Oman thwarts over 4.3 bln cyberattacks in 2018

Oman says it thwarted off more than 2.632 billion cyberattacks on government networks in 2018 and 1.726 billion malicious attempts against Oman's private space, taking the total to over 4.3 billion, according to the Information Technology Authority's (ITA) annual report. The number of cyberattacks on government networks tripled from 2017 when the country recorded 880 million such attacks. Over 900 million attacks specifically targeting government websites were successfully prevented in 2018, also several times more than in 2017 when such attacks were 1.41 million.
