One-day fixed line porting enters into force in Spain

Monday 11 November 2013 | 11:00 CET | News
The new rules allowing Spanish users to change their fixed-line operator and keep their number in one working day, from the current five-day maximum, came into effect on 11 November. The implementation of one-day porting was delayed five months due to Orange Spain's failure to make the required technical changes in time, which has resulted in the operator incurring a fine of EUR 696,000, which may rise to EUR 20 million once an investigation from Spanish regulator CNMC has concluded. One-day mobile porting has been in place in Spain since 1 June 2012.
