Online stores in Portugal more than double in two years

The number of internet pages offering electronic commerce in Portugal grew nearly 150 percent between 2010 and 2012 to a total of 17,097, according to a study by Email Brokers. The number of such websites in 2010 amounted to 7,167. The study was completed during the third quarter of 2012. According to the director of Email Brokers, Joel Machado, currently the four countries with the fastest growth in websites are the Czech Republic (11%), France (10%), Portugal (9%) and Hungary (9%). Currently there are 417,653 websites in Portugal, of which 307,091 are of a professional or commercial nature.
