Only 12% of Tanzanian SIMs have been biometrically registered ahead of year-end deadline

The Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA) says only 5.2 million mobile phone users (12 percent) have biometrically registered their SIM cards ahead of the 31 December deadline. TCRA and service providers have launched a publicity campaign on the campaign. Head of TCRA communication department Fredrick Ntobi said more than 39 million subscribers have not registered their lines.
