Only 2.4% of LatAm connections use 4G in Q1 - GSMA

LTE only accounted for 2.4 percent of the total 683 million mobile connections in Latin America in the first quarter of the year, well below the 8.4 percent global average, according to a report from the GSMA. Although deployments of 4G networks are set for rapid growth across the region, mobile operators still need to overcome a range of regulatory and economic challenges, including insufficient allocation of suitable 4G spectrum (above all below 1GHz), difficulties in deploying infrastructure at the municipal level and a challenging macroeconomic environment that has discouraged many
