Only 29% of Italians shop online - study

The Italian e-commerce sector continues to lag well behind the rest of Europe, with only 29 percent of consumers aged 16 to 74 making at least one online purchase over the past year, according to a survey by research centre Impresa-Lavoro. The figure compares unfavourably with the European average of 55 percent and is well behind top-ranked countries such as the UK (83%), Denmark (82%), Luxembourg (78%), Sweden (76%) and Germany (74%). Only Bulgaria (17%) and Romania (12%) far worse.
