Ooma is demonstrating its new Home Monitoring system at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The product is marketed as a do-it-yourself home monitoring platform whose job is to alert end-users about events within their homes. Designed to work with the Ooma smart home phone service, the Ooma Telo, the system includes motion, water, door and window sensors. On top of that, it's designed to remotely place a local 911 call from the home.

An accompanying app, Ooma Home Monitoring Mobile App for iOS or Android, enables end-users to manage the system and monitor the status of each sensor. Users can select from a variety of notifications including a phone call, SMS, email alerts and app notifications.

Ooma Home Monitoring service is offered at no extra cost to all Ooma customers for the first sensor (door/window, motion or water). If Ooma Basic service customers wish to add other additional sensors, they can subscribe to Ooma Home Monitoring for USD 5.99 per month. Premier service customers can use the service at no additional cost as a part of their Premier service plan.

The water sensor retails for USD 29.99 MSRP, the motion sensor for USD 34.99 MSRP, and the door and window sensor for USD 24.99 MSRP. Ooma Home Monitoring will be available in Q1 and can be pre-ordered from Amazon.com starting from 4 January.
