Open Fiber, Hera to bring FTTH services to Modena, Imola

The Open Fiber wholesale-only venture of Italian utility giant Enel and state lender CDP has teamed up with regional utilities group Hera to build a wholesale fibre-optic network in the towns of Imola and Modena in Emilia-Romagna. Under the terms of the deal, Open Fiber will use 300km of network infrastructure owned by Hera in the two localities to bring FTTH services at speeds of up to 1Gbps to local homes, offices, schools and public buildings. In Imola around 10,000km of cable will be rolled out over the next 18 months at a cost of EUR 8.5 million, with the scale of the Modena project yet
