Open Fiber inks deal to bring FTTH to Bergamo in EUR 17 mln rollout

The Open Fiber wholesale-only operator of Italian utility giant Enel and state lender CDP has signed an agreement with the local council of Bergamo near Milan to build a fibre-optic network in the city in a total investment of around EUR 17 million. A total of around 29,000 km of cable will be rolled out to bring FTTH services at speeds of up to 1Gbps to some 49,000 premises, with further details of the work to be revealed next month.
