Open Fiber to spend EUR 16 mln on Brescia FTTH rollout

The Open Fiber wholesale-only venture of Italian utility giant Enel and state lender CDP has announced an agreement with Brescia city council and A2A to build a fibre-optic network in the northern Italian city in a total investment of around EUR 16 million. The company said it's using A2A's existing 550km of cables and rolling out a further 2,500km to bring FTTH services at speeds of up to 1Gbps to over 70,000 households throughout the city by the end of the year.
