Openreach Index shows fibre network data consumption

BT's local access network division, Openreach, has published its first Fibre Index, showing demand for data over its UK fibre network. The Index will be updated seasonally and shows data usage across the company's 5 million active fibre connections is increasing at 40 percent year on year. The average fibre customer consumed 190 GB per month over summer 2015. The Index also gives insight to UK fibre broadband habits, including how just a quarter of homes and businesses account for 75 percent of total data consumed over the fibre network in an average month.
