Openreach starts deploying G.Fast trials

Openreach officially started the deployment phase of its new G.Fast trial (330 Mbps) on 9 January. The technology will be rolled out to 138,000 homes and businesses in 17 places across the UK by the end of March. The trial is the final step before Openreach starts a full-scale commercial deployment towards the second half of the year aimed at reaching 10 million premises by 2020 and most of the UK by 2025. Openreach told ISPreview that the pilot will likely continue into the summer. Customers in trial locations will likely be able to choose either a 160 Mbps (30Mbps upload) or 330 Mbps
