Optus begins using SMS spam blocking technology

Australian mobile operators have begun using filtering technology to block SMS scams and spam messages on their networks. Optus is thought to be the first operator to use the technology on its network while Vodafone and Telstra are currently testing the technology, The Australian reports. Optus recently confirmed that the technology is now in use. "This technology allows Optus to monitor spamming activity globally and pre-emptively block messages that have been sent in other parts of the world. We can also move swiftly to block SMS spam if we receive a customer complaint," a spokesperson
