Optus launches 5G Home Broadband service for wholesale partners

Friday 31 July 2020 | 07:06 CET | News
Australian operator Optus has announced that its wholesale postpaid partners (MVNOs) can now enable and purchase services from Optus to offer 5G Home Broadband to their customers. Optus’ ‘plug and play’ 5G home internet alternative is designed to enable users to access home broadband services in a few steps, without the need for a technician or professional installation.

Now available to Optus’ wholesale partners, the 5G Home Broadband offer provides users with internet access that combines 5G speeds, unlimited data and wireless connectivity in areas covered by Optus’ 5G network.

Optus also reports it currently has more than 860 5G sites switched on and is rolling out in selected areas. 5G is not available in TAS or NT.

The 5G Home Broadband offering will be available to select wholesale postpaid partners in line with the Optus 5G roll-out and Optus’ wholesale contracts. SpinTel will be the first wholesale partner to enable 5G in the initial wholesale roll-out. Commercial terms between Optus and wholesale partners have not been disclosed.

Optus’ wholesale postpaid partners currently include Circles.Life, iPrimus, Acurus, Bendigo Telco, BTB, Commander, Moose Mobile, Southern Phone, SpinTel, Dodo, Vaya, and 2SG.
