Optus mobile service revenue down 4%, loses 64,000 customers

Australian operator Optus reported consumer revenues down 7 percent year-on-year to AUD 1.779 billion in the fiscal third quarter to December, hurt by termination rate cuts, fewer customers in the fixed market, higher device subsidies and lower equipment sales. Mobile service revenue fell 4 percent to AUD 1.115 billion, equipment sales dropped to AUD 215 million from AUD 267 million, and residential revenues were down to AUD 449 million from 482 million. The company reiterated its outlook for a mid single-digit decline mobile service revenue over the full year. Helped by lower selling costs,
