Optus picks Juniper PTX Series to support LTE growth plans

Australian telecommunications provider Optus has selected Juniper Networks' PTX5000 Packet Transport Switch as the foundation of its enhanced converged core network. The PTX platform will enable Optus to manage cost of its core network to accommodate data growth as it rolls out its LTE mobile network. Optus is initially deploying Juniper Networks PTX Series in Melbourne and plans to expand the use of the PTX platform in other core PoPs this year. In addition, Optus is also using Juniper Networks Junos OS. Optus made use of Juniper Networks Junosphere virtual networking environment to design
