Optus Q1 net profit down 15.2 percent year-on-year

Australian telecommunications operator Optus posted a net profit of AUD 223 million for the first quarter of 2014, down 15.2 percent compared with the year-ago quarter, the company said in a statement. Revenues for the first quarter reached AUD 2.066 billion, decreasing 4.9 percent year-on-year due to lower equipment sales, lower fixed revenues and lower incoming service revenues. The operator's EBITDA stood at AUD 657 million in the first quarter, down from AUD 700 million in the same quarter in 2013 while the EBITDA margin was 31.8 percent, down from 32.2 percent in the same period the
