Optus starts restructuring, job cuts planned

Australian carrier Optus has announced plans for a restructuring, which is expected to lead to the loss of 480 jobs. As part of its strategy started a year ago to move beyond a "traditional telecommunications company", the company said it plans to rationalise its customer operations as well as streamline its business, wholesale and satellite divisions in response to the increasingly competitive market.
