Optus, Vodafone may withdraw from 4G spectrum auction

Australian telecommunications provider Optus is considering pulling out of the upcoming 700 MHz spectrum auction. The announcement comes after communications minister Stephen Conroy announced a reserve price of AUD 1.36 per MHz per head of population, which is according to Optus well above the international benchmark of AUD 0.38. Optus has held talks with its parent company SingTel and is still considering whether to participate, ABC News writes. However, Optus is still lobbying for the price to be cut. Rival Vodafone has already decided not to participate. In a statement the operator said:
