Orange said that unwanted calls and illegal cold-calling are on the increase, with their number recording a threefold increase over twelve months. In its efforts to help phone users, the operator has blocked 111 million calls to landlines and mobiles since September. Of this total, 101 million unwanted international calls (1.6 million calls a day on average) were blocked in accordance with new regulatory measures enforced by French regulator Arcep since 01 August. These rules ban the use of geographic (01-05) and non-geographic (09) numbers for calls originating from abroad.
