Orange, Canal Plus end talks on Dailymotion

Tuesday 10 June 2014 | 09:05 CET | News
Orange's negotiations with Canal Plus for the latter to invest in its Dailymotion video portal have ended without finding agreement, the operator told Les Echos. The talks failed for two main reasons: Canal Plus was seeking a majority stake in Dailymotion while Orange wants to keep control of its subsidiary and differences over the future strategy of Dailymotion. Les Echos adds that with the end of talks with Canal Plus, a deal with Microsoft is less likely. Microsoft was prepared to invest several tens of millions of dollars in Dailymotion as long as it did so alongside another investor.
