Orange France starts collecting old phones in schools

Thursday 6 June 2013 | 12:04 CET | News
Orange France has reached an agreement with the education authority of Dijon to install phone, battery and charger recycling collection boxes in the city's middle schools, high schools and universities. This is the first agreement of its kind in France. Orange has been running a phone recycling initiative with the charity Emmaus International since 2009. The collected equipment is reconditioned in France by Emmaus affiliate Ateliers du Bocage. Phones that are still in working order are resold in Africa, with all profit going to Emmaus. Broken phones are dismantled and recycled.
