Orange-Jazztel to axe 7.7% of combined workforce - report

Friday 29 January 2016 | 14:36 CET | News
Orange has informed workers' representatives of its plans to implement a collective dismissal of a maximum 550 workers as a result of its its EUR 3.4 billion takeover of Spanish broadband operator Jazztel, reports El Economista. However, the company said the "net impact" of the merger will ultimately affect 3.5 percent of the workforce of 7,084 employees because of plans to create 300 new jobs in its Spanish customer service centres. Trade unions have been given 15 days to designate employee representatives, with negotiations set to end in mid-March.
