Orange France has chosen the French town of Villefranche-sur-Saone (Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region) for an LTE-A network upgrade enabling theoretical 680 Mbps speeds and currently delivering over 500 Mbps in independent tests. The upgrade was achieved using Nokia's network equipment and tri-band aggregation, combined with 4×4 MIMO and 256QAM technologies. The 500 Mbps download speed was recorded using a Sony Xperia XZ Premium in measurement tests carried out in real conditions by nPerf.
