Orange main winner of Spanish 2.6 GHz auction - report

Wednesday 23 March 2016 | 11:45 CET | News
Orange Spain outbid its rivals to secure the majority of the regional frequencies in the 2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands auctioned by the industry ministry, reports business daily Expansion. The operator secured the available blocks in all regions apart from Madrid and Melilla, which were awarded to Telefonica, said the report, adding that Orange's total offer of EUR 42 million was more than three times the starting price of EUR 13.7 million, with Telefonica paying just over EUR 7 million for the Madrid and Melilla spectrum.
