Orange Mayotte strike enters seventh week

Orange Mayotte has been hit by industrial action since July 2015, reports Agence Ecofin. The employees blame management of not respecting a EUR 120 a month raise agreed in May this year, which was to be applied retroactively from January 2012. The so-called 'high cost of living' bonus is meant to offset an increase in the price of basic products in 2011, when the island became an overseas French county. Orange Mayotte's workers are demanding the same things as their colleagues at Orange Reunion. Union representative Mdahoma Amed said that the change in Mauritius's status meant that salaries
