Orange, SFR authorised to use 1,800MHz band for LTE

Orange and SFR can start using their frequencies in the 1,800 MHz band for LTE services from 26 May 2016. Regulator Arcep authorised the change in licence terms to make them technology-neutral. In exchange, Orange and SFR will be required to give up part of their frequencies in the band. The decision is line with an earlier amendment of Bouygues Telecom's licence, that allowed it to launch 4G in the 1,800 MHz band from October 2013. Bouygues also gave up part of its spectrum, which went to Free Mobile at the start of this year. Orange and SFR still can request that Arcep allow them to use the
