Orange to expand FTTP roll-out in Hautes-Pyrenees without public funds

The French department of Hautes-Pyrenees has reached an agreement with Orange to extend the coverage of fibre to the premise (FTTP) to 90 percent of households in the department by 2022 without any public funding. Prior to this agreement, Orange had already committed to deploying an FTTP network in the municipalities of Tarbes and Lourdes, with the aim of reaching 52,000 premises by 2022. While the operator began talks on expanding this network earlier this year, it was only after SFR's announcement of a nationwide fibre coverage plan that negotiations turned in favour of the Hautes-Pyrenees
