Orange wins public contract to deploy FTTH in Gers

Friday 16 September 2016 | 09:30 CET | News
Orange has won a contract to deploy an open access FTTH network across 82 municipalities in Gers, as part of the Digital Gers project. Following the agreement, Orange will cover around 50,000 households and approximately 1,000 businesses over a period of eight years. The contract represents the second phase of the Digital Gers project, which aims to fund public-initiative networks (known as RIP, Reseaux d'Initiative Publique). Orange had been awarded the first stage in 2014, with the objective to improve broadband speeds over the existing copper network across 131 municipalities.
