ORG criticises EC copyright reform proposals

Thursday 15 September 2016 | 10:58 CET | News
The Open Rights Group (ORG) has criticised the European Commission's proposals for the Directive on Copyright in the Single Market. ORG Executive Director Jim Killock said accused the EC of ignoring the concerns of thousands of EU citizens who responded to the consultation in favour of industry. He insists that the proposals will fail to harmonise copyright law and create a fair system for internet users, creators and rights holders. He warned that instead private companies would be forced to police the internet on behalf of rights holders.
