ORG welcomes ISC report on Investigatory Powers Bill

The Open Rights Group (ORG) has welcomed the Intelligence and Security Committee's report into the Investigatory Powers Bill. ORG Executive Director Jim Killock said that the ISC should be given credit for highlighting the Bill's failure to consistently apply privacy protections. He added that the Bill lacks clarity and fails in its mission to provide a comprehensive legal framework. He urged the government to stop rushing through legislation and said it was time for a proper debate about whether bulk surveillance powers are acceptable in a democracy like the UK. ORG supports the ISC's
